Monkey Mia

The cabin at Denham was good and needed to be. After we had seen no rain for a month it was bucketing down, very windy and cold. Sunday morning and there were patches of sun amongst the black clouds. 20km drive to Monkey Mia which looked better than it did in the storm of the previous day. We had missed the first of the three dolphin interactions but not to worry as the dolphins were coming back in. 5 of the dolphins get a small amount of food 3 times each morning and this tempts them in. About 50 of us stood knee deep in the water as the dolphins swam backwards and forwards. They were joined by a couple of pelicans and a lady telling us all about dolphins. When feeding time came Dave was selected as one of the lucky few to give a dolphin a fish and with great enthusiasm he gave an open mouthed dolphin a fish. Very exciting. A brief patch of sun followed and we roasted in comfy chairs in front of the resort. Soon the rain was back. We watched a film on Shark Bay , joined the dolphins for the last session of feeding and then drove off in the rain.

Dave feeds the dolphin a fish. Note the fleece jacket. What happened to 30degs

Back to Denham and a lunch at the pub. On the way to the car saw two emus walking down the road.

Looked at the church in Denham which was made of shell stone

130kms back to the stromatolites.  Passes a beware of bilbies sign.
Had another look which was great with low tide and sun.
